Marion, IA – Marion Economic Development Corporation (MEDCO) is pleased to announce that Hupp Electric Motors is expanding its facility located on Highway 13 in Marion. The expansion follows growth in service and sales of centrifugal and submersible pumps, increased involvement in high-volume machine work from companies throughout the Midwest, and more inquiries from customers about motor storage across the U.S.
“Marion has worked intentionally to create a welcoming environment for companies to invest and prosper,” said Marion Mayor Nick AbouAssaly. “Hupp Electric Motor’s decision to continue growing in our community demonstrates the confidence that strong, well-established businesses have in Marion.”
The expansion will add 34,600 sq. ft., bringing Hupp’s facility footprint to 163,500 sq. ft. The addition will serve Pump Repair and Sales, Millwright, Machine Shop, Motor Warehousing, and Large Motor Repair. The expansion will create the need for 24 new employees, with job types such as millwrights, CNC operators, and pump and large electric motor repairs. The project has a capital investment of $6 million.
“Marion has offered an excellent hub for Hupp Electric Motors to continue to grow. The connections and support within the business community have allowed us to continue to thrive, leading to this expansion,” said Josh Hupp, Vice President of Operations, Hupp Electric Motors. “This expansion will help us also expand our relationships with community partners, such as Kirkwood Community College, where we plan to utilize the Iowa Industrial Jobs Training (260E) program.”
