The annual Partnering to Move Marion Forward Bus Tour took place last month with back-to-back morning and afternoon sessions, capped off by a networking luncheon at the Marion Library. The event drew enthusiasm from participants and was a resounding success!
Both tours followed the same route, with the first stop featuring the new Marion High School Performing Arts Center. Visitors admired the new facility and enjoyed a performance from the school’s A Cappella Choir.
At FREUND Inc., guests explored a wide array of products and services serving industries such as pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, food, confectionery, chemicals, powdered metals, automotive, and energy.
The group then visited the Linn-Mar Administrative Building, which houses IT, HR, and volunteer services funded by the local 1% sales tax and opened fall of 2024. Participants saw firsthand how the district continues to grow and invest in its future.
Next up was Parry Labs, one of Marion’s newest businesses, now located in Uptown. Parry Labs develops defense technology with modular, open software and digital infrastructure for the modern battlespace. The company’s expansion underscores its commitment to local workforce strength and mission-driven growth.
The tour concluded with a brief walking tour of Uptown Marion, featuring the new Echoes of Marion sculpture and a sneak peek at BarTini’s, the area’s newest martini bar. The collective excitement from participants was palpable as they left with a renewed sense of pride in their community.
Feedback from attendees highlighted the event’s impact:
- “Overall, it was well-organized, informative, and time well spent.”
- “I will definitely be attending next year! Five stars!”
- “This event is a highlight of the community, I never miss it!”
This annual September event celebrates Marion’s bright future and the people shaping it. Be sure to watch for next year’s tour in 2026!
