The Marion Economic Development Corporation and its Board of Directors Supports Renewing the Physical Plant and Equipment Levy

The Marion Economic Development Corporation and its Board of Directors believe our K-12 education system plays a vital role in equipping the next generation of leaders to be future ready. Strategic capital investments in school facilities are essential to supporting that mission.

On November 7, 2023, voters will be asked to renew the existing PPEL levy which is used to maintain and repair district facilities. The renewal would ensure funds for another 10 years. Renewing the Levy Will Not Increase the Property Tax Rate! What is PPEL? The Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL) is a voter-approved levy that serves as a revenue source for funding school infrastructure and equipment repairs, purchases, and improvements. The levy generates approximately $1 million per year which will be essential in maintaining our new and existing facilities. The MEDCO Board of Directors applauds the work of the Marion Independent School Board.

The MEDCO Board encourages all business owners and district voters to learn more about the plan by going to https://www.marion-isd.org/article/1296805.

Marion is the best place in Iowa to raise a family and grow a business. This doesn’t happen by accident. To continue providing the best education for tomorrow’s workforce, we must have adequate space and safe facilities for our students. They are the future of our community. The MEDCO Board of Directors supports the MISD PPEL and encourages our community and business partners to Vote Yes on Tuesday, November 7th.
