The Marion Economic Development Corporation and Marion Chamber of Commerce will jointly host candidate forums featuring individuals seeking a seat on the Marion City Council, Linn-Mar School Board, or Marion Independent School Board.
The forums will take place Wednesday, October 25th from 5:00 – 8:15 p.m. at the Linn-Mar High School Large Auditorium, 3111 10th Street in Marion. Attendees can enter through Door 1. This is a change in location to allow additional space.
Forums will be combined into one night to include school board and city council candidates. The schedule will be as follows:

| Marion School Board Candidate Forum | 7:30 – 8:15 pm |
The Marion City Council and Mayoral races are uncontested. This portion of the event feature an open house where candidates can their thoughts and plans for the coming term and answer questions from residents and business leaders. Candidates running for reelection are: Mayor, Nicolas AbouAssaly; At Large, Steve Jensen; Ward 1, Gage Miskimen; Ward 2, Grant Harper; Ward 3, Will Brandt.
The first hour of the forum will feature Linn-Mar School Board candidates. Invited candidates include Barry Buchholz (Incumbent), Justin Foss, Katie Lowe Lancaster, Tom Law, Brittania Morey (Incumbent), Kevin Slaman, Laura Steffeck, and Jodi Treharne. This forum will follow a question and answer format of predetermined questions.
The Marion Independent School Board candidates are also uncontested. This portion of the event will be an open house where candidates can share their thoughts and plans for the coming term and answer questions from residents and business leaders. Invited candidates include Denise Allison (Incumbent), Jon Fitch (Incumbent), Carl Lantermans (Incumbent), and Michelle Rains.
The public is invited and encouraged to attend the forum. The combined City and School elections will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2023.
