Casey Clark is the Johnson County Sleep in Heavenly Peace President and he has a heart for giving back.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) is a non-profit organization that builds and delivers beds to children who don’t have beds to sleep in. Clark and his wife knew they wanted to be involved in their community and discovered SHP. “We found SHP because it’s focused on kids and gives back 99% of donations to the local community, we knew this is what we wanted to do.”

It just so happens that they have surrounded themselves with other individuals who also desire to give back to those around them. Clark and his wife had met the team at Twenty40 Building Concepts when they built their home in Solon and became fast friends. “I shared with them that all our tools had recently been stolen that we use to build beds with. Word traveled fast and before we knew it, the Iowa Giving Crew delivered to us three truck loads of tools nicer than we already had!” said Clark.

Cory Pelley of Twenty40 Building Concepts knew their next move was to do a build day where volunteers come together with a goal in mind to build beds for local children. Cory and the team at Twenty40 Building Concepts offered up their empty warehouse space for a recent build day where they built beds with lumber that was all donated by Suburban Lumber, a local lumber company. The previous record of beds built in one day was twenty-five, the team far surpassed that with forty beds built in one day. Switch Electric donated the installation of all the outlets to power the equipment. Fareway and Zio Johno’s also donated drinks and lunch to support the volunteers on this recent build day.

“It’s pretty cool to be able to help make this possible for kids here in our area,” said Chad Pelley of Twenty40 Building Concepts. The team is looking forward to hosting another build day in their facility this fall.
