MEDCO Announces New Board Members

Marion, IA – The Marion Economic Development Corporation (MEDCO) board of directors welcomes two new board members to the team in 2023. At its January meeting, the board approved term renewals, new board leadership, and recognized outgoing board members for their service. MEDCO board members attend monthly meetings, provide critical insight, connections, and strategic direction for the community economic development organization.

“Our team and community is better because of the leadership provided by our board,” said MEDCO President, Nick Glew. “Our community economic development corporation would not have the impact and influence without these highly committed individuals who represent the collective voice of our business community.”

2023 & 2024 Board Leadership:

  • Board Chair: Steve Neighbor - Executive Vice President, Farmers State Bank
  • Incoming Board Chair: Eric Schmitt - President, Rapids Wholesale
  • Outgoing Board Chair: Cheri Monahan - Director of Customer & Business Solutions, ITC Midwest

New board members:

  • Chad Pelley - Development Operations, Twenty40 Building Concepts
  • Greg Smith - President, Freund-Vector Corporation

Board members approved for term renewals:

  • Isiah Borel - Member Services Supervisor/Commercial Advisor, Linn County Rural Electric Cooperative
  • Janelle Brouwer - Superintendent, Marion Independent School District
  • Kevin Hupp - President, Hupp Electric
  • Kyle Martin - President, Martin Gardner Architecture
  • Scott Pantel - Vice President, Marketing, Rinderknecht Associates Inc.

The board also recognized two outcoming board members in December. These individuals include:

  • Kevin King - Market President, Ohnward Bank & Trust
  • Kate Walters - Tax Manager, RSM US LLP
