MEDCO Issues Letter of Support for Marion Independent School District Bond Vote

Published Tuesday, January 26, 2021

The Marion Economic Development Corporation and its Board of Directors believes our K-12 education system plays a vital role in equipping the next generation of leaders to be future ready. Strategic capital investments in school facilities are essential to supporting that mission.

On Tuesday, March 2, voters in the Marion Independent School District will be asked to support a well-planned referendum to fund critical building updates and invest in academics, fine arts, and athletic facilities. These investments will increase both operational efficiencies and equitable access to safe facilities for all students. The MEDCO Board of Directors applauds the work of the Marion Independent School Board to present a plan that prioritizes needs and has a tax neutral impact to our MISD businesses and residents.

The MEDCO Board encourages all business owners and district voters to learn more about the plan by going to  https://www.marion-isd.org/page/bondvote2021.

Marion is the best place in Iowa to raise a family and grow a business. This doesn’t happen by accident. In order to continue providing the best education to tomorrow’s workforce, we must have adequate space and safe facilities for our students. They are the future of our community. The MEDCO Board of Directors supports the MISD bond referendum and encourages our community and business partners to Vote Yes on Tuesday, March 2.
