Marion Enterprise Network to Deliver Competitive Advantage to High Tech Industry

Published Thursday, February 20, 2020

Marion, IA – Marion Economic Development Corporation has joined forces with Involta, ImOn Communications, and the City of Marion to launch the Marion Enterprise Network. This exclusive communications network connects qualifying business investments in the Marion Enterprise Center directly to the Involta data center, one of the most competitive offerings of technology solutions in the country.

The Marion Enterprise Network is a business attraction tool that aligns with the community’s target industry strategy and supports companies requiring high speed connectivity and state of the art data and IT services. New businesses that purchase ground in the Marion Enterprise Center (MEC), invest a minimum of $2M in a new facility, and create a minimum of ten High Quality Jobs as defined by the Iowa Economic Development Authority have the ability to access the network. Additionally, businesses must meet minimum benchmarks for data usage.

The fiber infrastructure at the MEC is both looped and redundant with direct connectivity to the nearby Involta Data Center. The park was constructed with 72 strands of excess fiber capacity proactively installed to aggressively serve business needs. The Marion Enterprise Network will be a private circuit that utilizes a minimum of one dedicated fiber to serve each qualifying tenant in the Marion Enterprise Center. It’s been a great place to grow Involta and we look forward to supporting the evolution of businesses and highly technical jobs in the area.”

“Marion has been and continues to be an important part of ImOn’s growth plans, and we are proud to support the city’s business growth in the Marion Enterprise Network,” says Bernard Dutchik, Vice President of Corporate Development at ImOn Communications. “Our high-speed fiber Internet service will give these new businesses the connectivity they need to succeed.”

The MEC is a 184-acre business park located on the east side of Marion, on U.S. Highway 151. The Certified Industrial Park is owned and operated by MEDCO Holding Company, LLC. The development is certified by the Iowa Economic Development Authority.
