MercyCare Business Health Solutions provides total health management for corporate wellness programs to support the health and wellbeing of employees. Molly McWilliam, a Senior Wellness Coach at MercyCare, supports the wellness program at Mercy Medical Center. Wellness coaching includes the mind, body and spiritual wellness of employees. Coaches help to establish goals with their clients that will allow them to work through the stages of change that lead to a healthier lifestyle.

McWIlliam first became interested in this career when she and her grandfather learned how to cook healthy meals together, following his bypass surgery. She then enjoyed running and nutrition in high school.  This would lead to an education in Health Promotion at Iowa State University. Upon completing her degree at Iowa State, Molly began working for Principal Wellness and focused on employee health screenings and consultations.

Molly then joined MercyCare Business Health Solutions and completed her Wellcoaches certification. “I love this career, it’s extremely rewarding to see people succeed with their goals,” McWilliam said.

Mercy Medical Center equips employees with incentives to participate in the wellness program. By achieving certain goals and wellness points they are able to receive discounted health insurance. All employees at Mercy Medical Center are given the opportunity to participate in the program as well as 24/7 access to an on-site fitness facility.

McWilliam encourages students to research, explore and participate in an internship if they have an interest in this line of work. Additionally, students can learn about this specific job by seeking out the job profile on Community Promise. These exist for students to see where future talent is needed in the area.
