Decision Support/Financial Analyst

The Senior Decision Support Analyst provides analytical consulting assistance to the administrative and managerial staff of the hospital and subsidiaries. This position will be responsible to help improve financial and operational performance throughout the hospital. They will be expected to identify opportunities for performance improvement based on payor, physician, departmental and/or service line analysis. In addition this position will participate in cost accounting, budgeting, and reimbursement initiatives as necessary. The Senior Decision Support Analyst will provide financial support for management, including but not limited to analysis of service lines, physician performance, quality improvement activities, financial statements, flex budget analysis/reporting, budgeting, RVU calculations and other financial needs. Essential Duties And Responsibilities • Is aware of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (eg Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of department management or hospital compliance officer. • Is knowledgeable of the Finance division’s “financial value drivers increasing organizational value”. • Purposefully conducts all aspects of the job in an ethical manner in support of the hospital’s commitment to ethical behavior in all areas of personal and professional activity. • Will act as a “business partner” for management focusing on payor, physician and departmental and service line analysis, and analyzing the relationship between financial performance and quality improvement activities. • Will serve as a back up for updating and maintaining Cost Standards in the Decision Support System. • Will be responsible for the development and maintenance of standard reporting templates. • Will be responsible to develop and train hospital managerial staff, so they can effectively manage their departments with the information generated through Decision Support. • Will be responsible to meet with hospital management to review financial reports and strengthen the relationship between Clinical and Financial Operations. • Will be responsible to meet with Quality Improvement management in order to understand quality criteria and reporting methodologies in order to develop analysis correlating quality improvement with financial performance. • Will participate in the operating and capital budgeting process. • Will be responsible to develop reporting tools to alert senior management to critical areas of review and focused attention to improve profitability. • Will be considered a Decision Support Super User and Financial Expert for the Service Lines and departments assigned. • Will be involved in special projects as needed or other duties as assigned.

Starting salary:
$49,500 annual
