Community Promise connects students to real careers. We want to help you learn about local careers aligned with your interests. Then, we’ll show you how to connect and communicate with them. We want you to develop an awareness for this community so that one day you choose to live and work in Marion because you have connections here! Deadline has been extended to Friday, November 19th.

This opening is currently only for Marion Independent 10th-12th grade students. 

What we need:

As a student, you know how to connect with your peers better than we do. We need your help to tell the Community Promise story! Check out the job description below. Yes, we pay!

Community Promise Student Influencer Job Description:

We’re building brand awareness of Community Promise amongst students at Marion Independent and Linn Mar Community School Districts. As a student influencer, you’ll inspire action by encouraging students to use the tools Community Promise offers, such as:

• Help your peers understand what a Pursuit Grant is and how they become eligible to apply.
• Recognize and understand what Community Promise is.
• Broaden reach of Community Promise to your peers.
• Show students how YOU learn more about career fields that are interesting to you, align with your interests and are right here in our community.

Community Promise Student Influencers will commit to completing these activities:
• Speak during at least two classroom presentations in partnership with Community Promise staff.
• Help staff a career/college fair if applicable
• Document experience over video of taking the career assessment and explore job profiles. Post to your social media profile after Community Promise staff reviews.
• Post about Community Promise on personal social media (guidelines and post ideas will be shared for this)
• Wear Community Promise swag and distribute to other students, encourage students to tag and share on their social.

Characteristics of good influencer candidates include:

  • Personable and positive
  • Outgoing
  • Well-respected
  • Relatable
  • Creative
  • Involved in activities
  • Active social media user with a desire to share their journey to finding the right field to study and learn about.

Pay will be $16 per hour, not to exceed $250 total per student. Pay will be made in $50 increments each time a task list is fulfilled. Community Promise staff and Student Influencer group will work to solidify task list.

  • Questions may be sent to [email protected]. Applications will be due November 11th. Fifteen minute interviews will be conducted the following week and will be set up and scheduled based on availability of student.

    • Selected students will be invited to a kickoff meeting where we will discuss details and hand out packets with information. We will also set up meetings to touch base with the group.
