Des Moines, IA- The Marion Economic Development Corporation was honored by the Professional Developers of Iowa (PDI) during the Iowa SMART Economic Development Conference held in Des Moines today. The PDI Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) awards program recognizes the outstanding efforts of local and regional economic development initiatives in supporting the growth and expansion of existing Iowa companies.

MEDCO was recognized for their work assisting Legacy Manufacturing. Currently under construction in the Marion Enterprise Center, Legacy Manufacturing will be moving to a new state-of-the-art 133,000 square foot corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility, more than doubling their current footprint in the Marion community. The expansion will assist Legacy in re-shoring the manufacturing of their products from Asia, and bring more manufacturing job opportunities to Marion.

The award was presented to MEDCO by Iowa Governor Terry Branstad and Lieutenant Governor Kim Reynolds. The single project award was granted following a competitive review process by the PDI board, representing economic development groups across the state.
