The Marion, Iowa based company is a leading CNC machine shop manufacturing high quality precision parts for the aerospace, electronics, medical, and other industries. The company was founded more than 100 years ago as a manufacturer of telegraph keys. As technology changed, ESM shifted its focus to become a producer of components needed to bring phone service to rural communities. Today various local, regional, and national customers partner with ESM to deliver high quality machined plastic and metal parts.
ESM will join ELPLAST America Inc. and Legacy Manufacturing as a current construction project underway in the Marion Enterprise Center. The Marion Enterprise Center is a 184 acre industrial park located on Highway 151 adjacent to the Marion Police Station and Marion Airport on the east side of Marion. The Marion Enterprise Center is the most active industrial park in the state of Iowa that operates within the Iowa Certified Sites program.
Todd Heying and Jim Eipert, owners of ESM issued a joint statement saying, "When we began looking for land to construct this facility, we considered all options including sites outside of the community. Our conclusion was that Marion is the best place in Iowa to grow our business."
"ESM is a great example of a successful Marion business ready to reinvest and keep its roots deep in our community," says MEDCO President Nick Glew. "We are proud to be a community that provides an exceptional business environment for small businesses to thrive. This facility positions ESM for another 100 years of growth in Marion."
ESM currently employs twelve individuals at its facility along 5th Avenue in Marion. The new location will allow for two additional buildings to be constructed on site as their growth continues in future years.
