MEDCO Hosts Commercial Property Tax Climate & Trends Luncheon

2016 Property Tax Trends

February 9, 2016

Marion, IA – Commercial property taxes can require a complex understanding of state roll-backs, municipal levies, and school funding. As local government prepares their budgets for the upcoming year, come learn about the factors that will impact you as a business owner, developer, realtor, or tax payer.

Join MEDCO as we welcome Marion City Manager Lon Pluckhahn for a presentation on 2016 Property Tax Trends. Mr. Pluckhahn will provide an overview on recent changes to the state roll back, growth in the local tax base, and how these items impact our community. We'll also hear from Linn-Mar Superintendent Dr. Quintin Shepherd and Marion Independent Superintendent Chris Dyer who will provide an overview of current school finances, property tax trends, and challenges they're facing within the current funding environment.

“Our local business and land owners are key stakeholders who help drive the success of our community,” says Nick Glew, MEDCO President. “Our goal is to equip the full community team with a better understanding of our tax environment and how both public and private stakeholders are impacted.”
